With Friends Like These .... Who Needs Enemies?
These are some of my friends.... they used to
be my co-workers but I have moved on since then. I spent 11 years
working in the same place. I started there when I was 16 and poof,
after 11 years, I looked up and went "What the hell!?" I hadn't really moved up in the company and was too content doing the same old thing. I can't tell you how scary it is that comfort
zones can trap you without you even noticing.
One very cool
thing about working there is I made some really good friends. You know - the ones you have for life! There was a huge group of us that hung out together ... something you don't encounter with every job. I miss
that camaraderie very much but even if I went back and got my old job back, it would never be the
same. After a while, you just outgrow each other .. and hardly anyone works there any more. You reach a point where you all have to move on.
But when I was there it's like they were family. We had known each other for so many years and been through so much together. So since I was a runaway and didn't really have a family, this group of people at Price Club/Costco... they were
my family. Quirky, strange but completely lovable. While sometimes you'd
like to kill them... the matter of fact is you love them regardless.
