There is in every true woman's heart a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of presperity; but which kindles up, and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.
~Washington Irving
Well, the Sharks thing was a bust. Totally freaking lame if anything. Joel and I showed up about 10 minutes into it, made our way to our table and then sat back looking at the festivities. When we arrived, they were introducing four of the Sharks players, so we hung out, listened to the intro and then watched the mass of people mob them.
While the players were being mobbed, we sat at our table and started taking things in. I was already kinda disgusted by the crowd. There were four or five kids running amuck to the left of me and loud and obnoxious people all over. When things kinda settled down, we realized there was no dining with the Sharks. We were dining. The Sharks were dining. But not at the same table or anything.
After a little while, we got an appetizer but any more were not to be found. Lame lame lame. At this point, I was sorry I bought the tickets, even if they were for a good cause. I hinted at leaving but Joel was more forgiving ... so we sat there for a little while longer until he finally decided he had enough as well. I was thankful that he didn't want to stay ....
We ended up leaving and going to a pretty damn good Vegetarian place - and if you know me - it has to be good. I loooove Mandarin Beef - and they made an amazing all vegetarian dish. It even looked like beef!! Very very tasty. Can't say the same for the Broccoli and Beef but I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. I want to try the duck. But if you're into eating healthy, try Garden Fresh in Mountain View. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Joel and I went back to my place, after picking up a new router and kinda settled in for the night. I still can't figure out for the life of me why he can only connect to my wireless network if we're not secure. I think I should have paid more attention in Networking class. Anyways ... it was a great night and he makes me fall madly for him more and more. It's so freaking terrifying on one hand ... and like the most natural thing ever. He's a great man ... in many many many ways.
This morning I had a re-root canal. Not very happy about it. Or the fact I had to have it. Last April I had the first one done and it never felt quite right but I'd never had one before, so I didn't worry about it. I wasn't bleeding out my nose and my teeth weren't falling out, so I thought it was just normal. Well, it wasn't. In October, I started having random swelling and then in November, Joel mentioned something about bad breath and then I got an abcess. Yup. Those are good indications of something being wrong.
So I went back and got on some antibiotics. No improvement. Then I went to the specialist today and he drilled a hole in my crown, revealing the most horrendous smell ever. Yea, it was the canal fillings in my teeth rotting out. Apparently there was an infection and it was growning inside the tooth, irritating around the tooth, resulting in the abcess. Oh yea. So he cleaned everything out, went further down and put in new stuff. $1300 dollars later. Fuck me.
At this point, I'm a little bitter. My old dentist basically didn't do a good job so what do I do? Ask for a refund? Tell him he fucked up? But he's really nice and a good dentist even if he can't do a root canal. Regardless, it still pisses me off. That and I'm in total pain again. My jaw just aches ... and I have to be on penicillin AGAIN along with pain medication. Yay.
I think the funniest part of it all is that my horoscope read "Only a root canal could top today. Drilling down to the cause
takes a bite out of overwhelming issues. Brushing off your best team
skills is like laughing gas: the procedure goes on, but you forget
you're in the chair."
Well, I topped my day.
